This comes as no surprise, the most infamous submission in all of MMA. The rear-naked choke (RNC) is a chokehold in martial arts applied from an opponent’s back. The word “naked” in this context suggests that, unlike other strangulation techniques found in Jujutsu/Judo, this hold does not require the use of a “gi” or training uniform.

Guillotine Choke – 7 Wins

The guillotine choke is another chokehold in martial arts and wrestling applied from in front of the opponent. The choke involves using the arms to encircle the opponent’s neck in a fashion similar to a guillotine.

Armbar – 6 Wins

The “armbar” is a technique widely used in martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In general, the practitioner secures an arm at the wrist of the opponent, trapping it by squeezing the knees together. To execute the submission one of the legs will be across the chest of the opponent, the second leg’s calf will cross the opponent’s face, with the hips tight into the armpit, with the arm held between the thighs and the elbow pointing against the thigh or hips. By holding the opponent’s wrist to the attacker’s chest with the competitor can easily extend the opponent’s arm and hyperextend the opponent’s elbow. The competitor can further increase the pressure on the elbow joint by arching his hips against the elbow.

Arm Triangle Choke – 4 Wins

Darce/Brado Choke – 2 Wins

The Darce choke is an effective head and arm choke, commonly used in mixed martial arts. The choke is executed when a competitor creates an inverted arm triangle position against their adversary, restricting the blood flow to their brain.

Kneebar – 2 Win

The kneebar is a positioning of the leg(s) between two points of contact. Similar to the “armbar” it uses the joint of the opponent to create hypertension on the knee.

Straight Ankle Lock – 1 Win

The ankle lock is considered a joint lock. It is a commonly used maneuver in mixed martial arts. It is usually performed by wedging a forearm, especially a bony part of it, into the Achilles tendon while also leveraging the foot and the leg over the forearm. This causes extreme pressure on the Achilles tendon.

Anaconda Choke – 1 Win

The Anaconda Choke is very similar to the “Arm Triangle Choke” however it is executed from the front headlock position as opposed to the side mount position.

Outside Heel Hook – 1 Win
